- Mitie has launched a new air disinfection service using ultraviolet (UV) light to help eradicate harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi and mould
- Partnering with Luxibel, the service uses UVC purification lamps with sleek modern designs, that can be installed either discreetly in air vents and ceiling tiles, or displayed to aid employees’ and customers’ peace of mind
- Air quality can be monitored through real-time remote sensor technology, while UVC detection stickers placed around the site can monitor UVC levels

- The programme will support 50 new Technical Apprentices in 2021, with 16 having already joined the business
- The apprenticeship programme is part of the Mitie Technical Services Academy, an initiative to offer learning and development opportunities for employees at every stage of their career

- Mitie Landscapes has launched the UK’s first zero emission gritting service for commercial use, using a 100% electric gritter
- The EV gritter is being trialled in Nottingham to help businesses in the area stay safe in wintry conditions while limiting their impact on the planet
- The launch of the new service builds on Mitie’s electric vehicle commitments, with the EV gritter joining more 900 other EVs already in Mitie’s fleet

- Mitie has been appointed as a supplier on the new Net Zero Carbon Delivery framework, created by ETL – a subsidiary of Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust
- The framework was created to help public sector organisations, including hospitals, schools and research centres, implement zero carbon technologies
- This appointment is part of Mitie’s Plan Zero commitment to use its expertise to help other organisations achieve their own sustainability objectives
