  • Mitie has launched its first ‘low carbon menu’ for patients at St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which will save up to 23 tonnes of CO2 a year
  • Designed in collaboration with its food partner apetito and St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the menu focuses on prioritising ingredients with a lower carbon footprint, such as poultry, fish and vegan options
  • Designed by dietitians, the new menu will ensure all dietary requirements – such as gluten free, vegan and easy to chew – continue to be catered for

  • Mitie has won a seven-year contract to deliver maintenance services on the Future Defence Infrastructure Services programme for sites across Scotland and Northern Ireland
  • Awarded by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), the contract is worth up to £646 million over seven years which DIO has the option to extend for three more years
  • The sites range from historic buildings, such as Edinburgh Castle, through to military and air force bases, including Abercorn Barracks and Kinloss Barracks

  • Mitie has won a seven-year contract to provide facilities management (FM) services for 70 of the Scottish Government’s sites, including research centres and the First Minister’s residence
  • The services include engineering and maintenance, waste management, grounds maintenance, security, energy management and cleaning
  • Using its sustainability and FM expertise, Mitie will help the Scottish Government implement solutions to cut carbon emissions across all sites

  • Mitie has won four five-year contracts with Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and Hertfordshire NHS Community Trust
  • The contracts will see some 300 Mitie employees deliver services, including cleaning, security, portering, linen and laundry, catering and helpdesk, for healthcare sites across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex and Norfolk
  • The services were previously managed by Interserve Facilities Management but were renewed following Mitie’s acquisition of Interserve in November 2020

  • Mitie has won a three-year contract to deliver security services for Associated British Ports (ABP), the UK’s leading ports group
  • The contract will see Mitie deliver security services, including staffed guarding and passenger searches and screening, for all of ABP’s 21 ports in England, Scotland and Wales

  • Mitie is supporting the ‘No Mow May’ campaign which promotes biodiversity by postponing some of the lawn mowing for one month
  • Mitie customers, covering 50 sites across the UK, have already committed to leaving some of their grass alone for the month of May
  • By supporting the campaign, run by conservation charity Plantlife, Mitie and its customers will be supporting more attractive environments for pollinators and encouraging biodiversity

  • Mitie has welcomed its first zero emission large van – a Vauxhall Vivaro-e
  • This takes Mitie’s electric fleet, believed to be the largest in the UK, past 1,000 vehicles
  • The new van is the first of 655 Vivaro-e’s on order for delivery this year, as Mitie pushes ahead with its commitment to have 2,021 EVs by the end of 2021
