Mitie recognised as Top 50 Inclusive UK Employer for sixth consecutive year

  • Mitie has been named one of the UK’s top 50 most inclusive employers by Inclusive Companies in its 2023 Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers Index
  • This is Mitie’s sixth consecutive year on the Top 50 Inclusive UK Employer list, since its inception eight years ago
  • The announcement follows a successful year of award recognitions including Mitie’s third year as a Gold Award recipient on the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (DERS), and its Silver Status Award from the Inclusive Employers Standard

Mitie has been recognised as one of the UK’s 50 most inclusive employers, for the sixth year running. Ranked number 24 on the 2023 Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers Index (IT50 List), Mitie’s inclusion demonstrates its ongoing commitment to workforce inclusivity and diversity.

Compiled by Inclusive Companies and judged by an independent advisory panel of Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) experts, the IT50 List is now in its eighth year and functions as the definitive cross-industry index for both innovation and best practice in fostering diverse and inclusive workplaces.

Mitie’s inclusion in the IT50 list follows a successful year of equality, diversity, and inclusion awards and initiatives, including celebrating its third year as a Gold Award recipient on the government’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (DERS). The Gold Award recognises Mitie’s continued support for its ex-military colleagues through a range of recruitment programmes, charity initiatives, and career development and support. Earlier in the year, Mitie also received Silver Award status by the Inclusive Employers Standard, an evidenced-based accreditation tool for inclusion and diversity, in recognition of its commitments to promote Equality Diversity and Inclusion across its business.

In addition to these awards, Mitie also pioneered progressive work policies to support better work-life balance for its workforce through the introduction of two key policy changes. This included the adoption of a more progressive carer’s leave policy that gives colleagues who are carers, an additional one week's unpaid leave per year, and changes to its flexible working policy, giving colleagues more flexible working arrangements.

The IT50 List acknowledges and ranks businesses which are consistently working hard to be truly inclusive and encompass all types of diversity. It exists with the firm aim of encouraging employers to return each year and continue driving diversity and inclusion practices in their workplaces.

Jasmine Hudson, Chief People Officer, Mitie, said:

“We’re incredibly proud to be listed as one of the UK’s Top 50 Inclusive Employers for the sixth consecutive year. This recognition is testament to our extensive efforts and commitment to make Mitie a truly diverse and inclusive place to work. We’re a business that encourages all colleagues to bring their authentic selves to work every day, whatever their background, there is a place for everyone here at Mitie.”

Paul Sesay, Founder and CEO, Inclusive Companies, said:

“We work closely with organisations to create cultural transformation that ensures diversity and inclusion are embedded into everything they practice and the IT50 recognises those employers who are getting this right.”
