- Including five mandatory modules, colleagues will learn every aspect of working as a retail Store Detective, including gathering evidence and legal requirements
- Mitie will put at least 50 colleagues through the training a year, starting with existing Store Detectives before expanding to its Security Officers

- Mitie has welcomed 41 new apprentices to its Technical Services Apprenticeship Programme as part of its efforts to attract and develop the next generation of engineers
- In addition to 18 other apprentices which joined earlier in the year, this new intake takes Mitie past its target of 50 new Technical Services apprentices in 2021
- The Apprenticeship Programme, which is part of Mitie’s Technical Services Academy, is an initiative that supports Mitie’s offer of learning and development opportunities for employees at every stage in their career

- Mitie has kicked off a new five-year contract to deliver facilities management services – including cleaning, waste management and grounds maintenance – for Swansea University
- The contract, which has the option to extend for up to four more years, is worth £2.4 million a year and will see Mitie deliver services for all of the University’s buildings
- Using its sustainability and waste management expertise, Mitie has committed to only using cleaning products with reduced packaging as well as helping Swansea University cut waste across all of its sites

- Mitie has launched its new Plan Zero BoltON packages, offering simple solutions such as remote building management, lighting optimisation, solar power, and electric vehicle (EV) charge point infrastructure to help organisations reach their net zero targets
- The packages can be easily scaled and rolled out as single, multiple or combined modules to suit different types of buildings
- Mitie will cover the initial costs of equipment, such as solar panels or EV charge points, with customers only charged a monthly subscription fee once the installation has been completed

- Mitie has won a new life systems contract with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) worth £29 million
- Under the new contract, Mitie will be responsible for the maintenance of all water, fire, lift and electrical systems across 900 UK sites
- This is in addition to Mitie’s existing contract to deliver cleaning, maintenance, and engineering services for DWP

- Mitie has announced its roadmap to decarbonise all its sites across the UK, committing to achieve its first four net zero sites this year
- An additional 14 sites are planned to be decarbonised every year until 2025, when Mitie will have an entirely net zero estate
- Mitie has also committed to energy optimisations equivalent to saving 26 tonnes of CO2 a year and investing in energy efficiency measures such as LED lighting, insulation and upgrading old equipment

New EV chargers installed for Royal London as Mitie drives charge point infrastructure for customers
- Mitie has installed over 850 electric vehicle (EV) charge points for customers across the UK and Ireland, with 10 installed at Royal London’s office in Alderley Park
- Using its sustainability and fleet management expertise, Mitie is also helping Royal London maintain and manage its EV charge point infrastructure to support its decarbonisation goals
