  • The trials are taking place across two locations and have been cultivated using three methods, in order to determine the best technique for different climates

  • Building on its existing 12-year partnership with DfT, Mitie will deliver integrated facilities management (IFM) services including cleaning, security, energy management and planned and reactive building maintenance across over 800 of DfT’s sites nationwide
  • The new contract will see Mitie introduce innovative technology to support DfT in meeting its decarbonisation goals

  • Mitie’s new cleaning apprenticeship offering follows the Professional Security Operative (PSO) Level 2 Apprenticeship which was launched in August last year

  • Mitie has been awarded a new £50 million contract for five years with cycling and motoring retailer, Halfords, Group to provide engineering maintenance services  
  • Mitie will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of building equipment including heating and ventilation systems, lighting, fire alarm systems and boilers at over 950 Halfords Group sites across the UK and Ireland 
  • Mitie will take a technology-led approach, with Halfords Group colleagues able to report maintenance requirements through Mitie’s Aria app and site managers gaining full oversight of jobs through Mitie’s Mozaic software

  • Seven out of ten (70%) sustainability leaders believe that the time and cost spent on reporting admin has driven decarbonisation delay as resource constraints are hampering action on sustainability goals
  • Over half (55%) say that too much admin is involved in sustainability reporting with over a third (37%) looking to outsource it
  • Sustainability leaders also say the volume of reporting is increasing pressure with two thirds (66%) now publishing an external sustainability report that is separate to their annual report, as well as reporting to external regulatory frameworks

  • The event recognised the winners of its 2024 Mitie Stars awards, some of its longest serving colleagues, its class of distinction achieving Level 7 Leadership apprentices, its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) network leads, and top Apprentices of the year winners
  • Special guests Franceschina (Frankie) Romano and June Bearcroft, who are still working for Mitie at 92 and 89 years of age, also joined the celebrations
