MITIE has won joint first place in the UK Team Clean Challenge 2007, a governmentbacked skills competition organised by UK Skills and Asset Skills, the Sector Skills council for property, housing, cleaning and facilities management.
MITIE’s team were set a series of cleaning challenges and competed against other teams to solve each situation. Members from MITIE’s team work on various client sites, two of which are leading high street banks. In addition to becoming the winning team, one of MITIE’s cleaners was awarded joint first place for the best UK cleaner award.
The awards ceremony took place on 11 December 2007 at the Geographical Society in London with celebrity pop vocal coach, David Grant presenting the awards. MITIE will now go on to become part of the UK Skills team from all industries and will represent the UK against cleaning teams from across Europe at the Euroskills competition in Rotterdam in September 2008.
Martyn Freeman, Managing Director for MITIE’s Cleaning business, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the team due to the high volume of entrants from independent to national cleaning companies. It is a superb accolade to be one of the first winners of the new challenge and MITIE wishes the team luck for the next challenge.”
