The British Quality Foundation is running the 2012 Lean Six Sigma Awards, which are extremely technical in nature and demand a high level of knowledge of Lean Six Sigma processes.
The Lean Environment team submitted an entry for its work with this client in Bristol. The two buildings selected have over 420,000 square feet between them. Mitie’s Lean Environment team on the project was led by David Iles. David and his team introduced the Lean Six Sigma process successfully into the two buildings with the result that 137.5 hours of labour per week was saved, resulting in a cost saving to the client of £41,000. The productivity achieved is 61% more efficient than that recommended by the British Institute of Cleaning Science.
The team presented its findings to the BQF panel in late July, with the final taking place in London in October.
