Scott Simpson, Painting and Decorating Apprentice for Mitie awarded ‘Apprentice of the Year’ in September 2013 at the Construction Training Specialist Ceremony.
Jim Fitch, Contracts Manager has mentored Scott over the past 18 months on various painting and decorating projects around the Norwich area and said: “since joining Mitie, Scott has delighted us with his enthusiasm; he is hard working, thinks on his feet and produces a very high standard of work. Scott is always punctual and polite. Scott thoroughly deserves his award.”
Steve Maltby, Commercial Manager for Mitie stated: “Over the last 15 years our region has taken on 45 apprentices with as many as 40 of them still employed today. Within Mitie’s painting business we give local young people the opportunity to build a career; painting and decorating is not an easy profession, it’s a craft but we’ve been fortunate that the Construction Training Specialist Ltd and Construction Industry Training Board have supported us with our new recruits. I’m extremely proud of Scott Simpson and his achievements and the fact that his training tutors have recognised his talent by awarding him ‘Apprentice of the Year’. Scott is a new trainee that has taken on the challenge with full commitment and dedication.”

He has a natural practical skill capability and produces standards that reflect the level needed for a full career in the industry. He has a desire to learn the finer points of the skills that he practices and always asks further questions to add to his knowledge. At this stage of his career he is being recognised as having the potential to become an outstanding ambassador for the industry and for his employer.”
