Mitie, the UK’s leading facilities management company, has scooped two award wins at this year’s CIR Risk Management Awards, taking first place in both the ‘Risk Management Innovation of the Year’ and ‘Risk Management App of the Year’ categories for its innovative Risk Safe solution. The annual CIR Risk Management Awards recognises and rewards excellence in the field of risk management and is the pinnacle of achievement for the best people, products and programmes within the sector.
Launched in 2021, Risk Safe is Mitie’s digital risk register designed to help organisations automate existing processes for managing operational, reputational and regulatory compliance risks. The tool was designed by Mitie’s Risk Management team in order to streamline its existing practices, which were previously very manual and time consuming.
Though it has only been in place for a short period of time, the software solution, which was developed in-house by Mitie’s Connected Workspace Team, has already had a positive impact on Mitie’s risk management processes, as the business has been able to move from hundreds of individual risk register documents to one centralised platform, with its 900 users capturing 4,000 different risks across over 500 risk registers. By introducing Risk Safe, Mitie has eliminated the need for labour intensive risk audits, and instead created a comprehensive hub which can be used to accurately capture, assess, and manage all risks across the organisation, giving the company a 360-view of its risk profile.
Following its own success using Risk Safe, Mitie plans to offer the platform to customers to support them in modernising their risk management systems.
