Mitie wins West Business of the Year Award 2008

Mitie has been named as the winner of the prestigious West Business of the Year Award 2008.

The announcement - which came after several months of presentations, debate and judging - was made following a reception and black-tie dinner attended by more than 250 people. Bristol-based Mitie has grown into one of the most successful companies in the region and this year announced revenues of over £1.4bn.

Mitie, which employs more than 49,000 people in the UK and is in the FTSE 250, has enjoyed 20 years of continuous revenue and profit growth and is well placed to continue its growth in the future as the trend for companies to outsource their non-core services continues to grow.

The award, run by PricewaterhouseCoopers - was accepted by Chief Executive, Ruby McGregor-Smith at the event at the Marriott hotel on 23 June.

David Charles, from PricewaterhouseCoopers chaired the judging panels in the main category.
He said: "Once again the calibre of entrants demonstrated just how strong some of the businesses we have here in the South West are. There was a real depth and quality which made the task of the judges even harder."
