MITIE, the facilities, property and engineering services company, has won a £14.5 million, 26-month M&E contract with BuildAbility Ltd for The Cube, one of Birmingham’s most prestigious schemes. 

The Cube is an innovative 23-storey, 450,000 sq ft mixed-use development that will contain state of the art offices, apartments, shops, the city’s first boutique hotel and an exclusive rooftop restaurant. It is being built in the heart of Birmingham by BuildAbility, the construction arm of Birmingham Development Company, which is the team behind The Mailbox in Birmingham. 

MITIE is responsible for delivering the full mechanical and electrical package at The Cube, which will involve installing heating, hot water, mains cold water, boosted cold water, chilled water, gas, ventilation, air conditioning, sprinklers, automatic controls, smoke vents and car park vents. The team’s installation work will start in September and will involve working throughout the building – from the automated underground car park to the panoramic rooftop restaurant.
