Mitie to take on a new route as it secures Great Western Railway facilities management and maintenance contract

  • The four-year contract will cover facilities management, maintenance and new installations across the Great Western Railway (GWR) estate, a key part of the UK’s transport infrastructure
  • It includes over 200 stations and six depots from London to Penzance, including South Wales, the West Country and the Cotswolds
  • A dedicated engineering solution has been developed for the contract and Mitie’s team will also support with GWR’s energy reduction programmes

Mitie has been awarded a new four year contract with Great Western Railway (GWR). The contract covers engineering maintenance work at 203 stations and six depots in the GWR network, which runs over 1,997 kilometers. There are over 1,600 services daily, stretching across 10 counties and South Wales.

A team of 26 colleagues have transferred to Mitie, and are delivering a range of engineering services. Mitie’s Plan Zero consultants have also already attended site visits and identified opportunities for energy reduction.

To support with the transition to the new contract, Mitie has developed a bespoke engineering plan led by an experienced Critical Environment and Technical Assurance (CETA) team to ensure that  the stations remains fully functional and compliant with safety standards delivering a seamless experience for GWR’s 80 million annual passengers.
