Mitie to deliver engineering services for NHS Blood and Transplant

  • Mitie has won a five-year contract to provide engineering services to NHS Blood & Transplant
  • Contract extends Mitie’s remit from 34 sites in Northern England to 76 locations across the country

Mitie has won a five-year contract to provide engineering services to NHS Blood & Transplant (NHSBT) following a competitive retender. Worth £15m over five years, the win builds on Mitie’s 15-year partnership with the organisation.

Mitie’s Engineering division will expand on its previous contract with NHSBT, increasing the delivery of services from 34 sites in the North of England to 76 locations nationwide. NHSBT are an essential part of the National Health Service providing the blood donation service for England and the organ donation service for the UK as well as donated tissues, stem cells and cord blood.

Mitie will provide planned and reactive engineering maintenance to NHSBT’s estate, including the critical systems which support the provision of blood, tissues and organs. Mitie’s round the clock support will reflect the 24/7 nature of NHSBT and contribute to saving and improving patient’s lives.

Its mobile teams also collect blood at community venues such as church halls around the country.
