Mitie's cleaning employee awards winners

What are the odds? One in 22,000!

Leading support services company MITIE has just celebrated its IMPACT Awards and has rewarded its top cleaner with a brand new MINI One car and its top national team with £5,000 of high street vouchers.

MITIE's IMPACT Cleaning Awards are now in their third year and were developed with the aim of recognising and rewarding MITIE people who go the extra mile for clients and colleagues. In this time over 4,500 MITIE people have been rewarded with certificates, holidays and high street vouchers.

Each year the IMPACT Awards ceremony is held at a prestigious venue and this year it was at Williams F1 Conference Centre and Grand Prix Collection near Oxford which isn't normally open to the general public. Winners had the opportunity to look around the F1 museum that holds the largest privatelyowned collection of F1 cars in the world, have a four-course lunch as well as try out their driving skills on a Williams F1 Simulator.

This year, the top prize of a MINI One car went to Gordon Ravenscroft, an industrial cleaner working on MITIE’s contract with Diageo in Runcorn, Cheshire. His first award of the day was a Gold IMPACT prize of £1,000 of high street vouchers. This then put him in the running, along with six other regional winners, to win the ultimate prize of the car. Gordon said: “When I heard my name called as the winner of the car I just couldn’t believe my ears. It has been such a tough two years and this has been the best day of my life.”

The year’s winning team work at Durham Tees Valley Airport. Michelle Jackson and Susan Eckley were awarded the prize of £5,000 of high street vouchers for their true ‘can do’ attitude. Michelle said: ‘When we heard it was our site we couldn’t believe it, we are both so pleased. Susan continues: “I’ve never won anything and it is a great honour to be recognised for the work we do.”

Martyn Freeman, Managing Director for MITIE’s Cleaning business, said: “Gordon clearly demonstrates the key attributes that we look for in all our people. He is very dedicated, takes pride in his work and will go that extra mile to please our customers. We congratulate Gordon with his remarkable achievement of winning this competition ahead of our other 22,000 people and thank him for his hard work”. Discussing the winning team’s achievement, he continued: “This team never says no, in fact they are prepared to take on any task they are asked to deliver. During the heavy rains in June 2007, there was a major flood throughout their site. Michelle and Susan sprang into action to hold back the waters and stop the bad situation from turning into a disastrous one.”
