MITIE presented with ‘Big Tick’ award from Business in the Community

MITIE, the strategic outsourcing company, has been presented with a ‘Big Tick’ Award for Excellence from Business in the Community in their Skills in the Workplace category. MITIE received the award at a prestigious ceremony held at Leigh Court in Bristol at the beginning of June. 

The award was presented for MTIE’s ‘Skills for MITIE, Skills for Life’ scheme which utilises the company’s training teams and national training providers to offer all MITIE employees a range of apprenticeships as well as literacy and numeracy Skills for Life courses. These courses are run during working hours enabling all staff to gain NVQ’s and other qualifications. To cope with the extensive MITIE workforce, spread across the UK, a small external training company was appointed as Lead Provider with subproviders beneath them as additional deliverers – both colleges and private sector organisations. At least 31 new jobs have been created amongst training providers as a result. 

Ruby McGregor-Smith, CEO of MITIE, commented on their award win; “It is a great honour to be recognised with this award, as so many people have put a lot of time and dedication in to making our training scheme a success. Offering training and the opportunity to gain recognisable qualifications is integral to MITIE’s success and the success of each individual.”
