Mitie launches integrated services offering from Utilyx

Mitie has established a new energy services offering by bringing together Utilyx and its asset management business, it was announced today.

Mitie, the FTSE 250 strategic outsourcer, has established a new energy services offering by bringing together Utilyx and its asset management business, it was announced today.

Mitie-owned Utilyx will offer clients an integrated energy services offering, encompassing everything from strategy and management to operation and technical delivery.

Utilyx is an energy pioneer and specialises in procurement, risk management and power purchase agreements. It is one of the UK’s largest industrial and commercial energy buyers, managing 10.5% of the industrial and commercial sector.

Utilyx will now provide decentralised energy solutions through on-site energy centres which reduce costs and carbon emissions, whilst safeguarding security of supply. This new service is being provided through the expertise of Mitie’s former asset management business, which is a market leader in decentralised energy, responsible for some of the biggest off-grid energy centres in the UK.

The enhanced Utilyx proposition will help clients compete more effectively in a competitive marketplace where prices are rising and energy has emerged as a strategic issue for organisations.

The new business proposition was outlined at Utilyx’s annual Energy Seminar, at London’s Oxo Tower, which brought together dozens of commercial energy buyers and sustainability managers from a variety of private and public sector organisations.

At the event Vodafone, Sainsbury’s and the John Lewis Partnership-Waitrose also discussed how they are tackling their energy challenges and explored innovative ways of buying, using and generating energy.

The Green Investment Bank explained how organisations can find funds to reduce costs through on-site generation and Utilyx also provided the latest intelligence on developments in the decentralised energy market and the effects of rising energy prices.

Ruby McGregor Smith CBE, chief executive of Mitie, said: “Organisations across the UK are facing significant challenges around energy. Utilyx is able to provide our clients with the support they need and the right solutions that cover every aspect of the energy mix.”
