Mitie has retained its contract with Transport for West Midlands, extending a decade-long partnership to provide cleaning, graffiti removal, maintenance and asset replacement services across more than 10,000 transport touch points including bus stations, shelters, interchanges and passenger information points. Under the new five year agreement, with option to extend for a further five years, more than 60 Mitie colleagues will help create clean, safe and welcoming environments for the millions of passengers who use the network every year.

Supporting Transport for West Midlands’ ambition to achieve Net Zero by 2041, the contract will be delivered using a fully electric fleet, reducing carbon emissions and helping to improve air quality around bus routes and shelters. Vehicles will also be fitted with onboard water tanks and water-saving cleaning technology, enabling colleagues to clean more efficiently while reducing water consumption.

The entire fleet will be equipped with specialist route-mapping technology that uses real-time traffic and operational data to direct teams to locations requiring attention by identifying the most efficient routes. This will help reduce mileage and improve productivity while supporting low-carbon service delivery.

Reflecting the shared commitment of Mitie and Transport for West Midlands to creating a workplace where colleagues feel valued and supported, all colleagues will receive the Real Living Wage.
