Mitie, the facilities management business, has been awarded an expanded street furniture cleaning and maintenance contract with Transport for London (TfL).
Mitie is currently into its second year of a five-year contract with TfL, adding the provision of cycle hire cleaning to its service. This involves cleaning 19,000 bikes and over 700 docking stations each month.
Every year, the team install over 320,000 posters and timetables and clean 19,000 bus stop flags, 36,000 traffic lights and 144,000 bus shelters. The cleaning also includes the removal of graffiti from all of TfL’s street furniture, as well as cleaning TfL’s eight river piers.
Mitie’s transport experts also work for major airports and bus and train companies around the UK, and have built up an impressive team that focuses on the passenger experience.
Kate Glassup, Director of Transport at Mitie, said: “Our existing relationship with TfL, and the great work that our transport team deliver for them on our other contracts, has supported this organic growth and means Mitie will be cleaning and maintaining another iconic transport solution in London.”
