Mitie awarded total facilities management outsourcing contract by Friends Life

Mitie has been awarded a five-year contract with Friends Life, one of the UK’s leading providers of financial products and services.

Mitie Group PLC, the strategic outsourcing and energy services company, has been awarded a five-year contract with Friends Life, one of the UK’s leading providers of financial products and services.

The FTSE 250 company will provide total facilities management (FM) for Friends Life. Services are to include hard and soft FM as well as energy management, all supported by an innovative technology platform.

The contract commenced in February 2012 and has a total value of £28 million.

Following the merger of Friends Provident, part of AXA’s UK Life and pensions business and BUPA’s Health Assurance, the newly formed Friends Life business decided to shift to a fully integrated, self-delivered outsourcing model across the UK.

Mitie was awarded the contract on the basis of its integrated delivery model which provides a single point of contact, streamlined services and cost savings.

Services will be delivered across the Friends Life UK estate, which includes 13 office buildings, a data centre and its London head office (housing in total over 5,000 people).
