Mitie's Built Environment business has won a major project worth £10.5 million for Derwent London, a leading British-based property investment and development business.
The new business award, located at 49 Clerkenwell Green is a category A, 7500 m2 refurbishment and fit out starting in January 2012 and scheduled to finish the same year.
This design and build project will provide high quality CAT A office space with a new reception and entrance facing Clerkenwell Green. The works include structural alterations to enable the new entrance to be formed, an atrium infill and level 4 office extension.
There is a complete refurbishment of the external façade with new glazing at ground floor level, new cladding to level 4 and sloping glazing to the rear elevation.
New mechanical and electrical infrastructure will be installed throughout with main plant rooms in the basement and on the roof.
The ventilation comes through the floor plenum with return air via a central bulkhead. Three new lifts will service the floors as well as a new toilet core throughout.
The office space will retain its industrial feel with exposed concrete soffits and steel columns.
The building design and construction is targeted to achieve a BREEAM ‘very good’ rating and will offer more energy efficient systems as well as facilities such as cycle storage with bespoke changing areas.
