Mitie, together with Phoenix School in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, have won a gold and two silver medals at this year’s Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
As part of Mitie Property Services’ community engagement programme, Mitie works with local schools and contributes to a number of community projects. Mitie recently rebuilt the pergolas at Phoenix School and helped establish the community farm, both of which contributed to securing a prestigious place at this year’s Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
The world’s biggest horticultural event brings together 47 gardens across 34 acres and the exhibitors are tasked with designing, planting and constructing a spectacular and memorable garden.
Following the success of the previous collaboration, Phoenix School invited Mitie to support them at this year’s show and in addition to sponsoring some of the materials, Mitie provided labour and design advice. A team was also on hand to manage the operation, including four Mitie apprentices.
On Sunday, 3 July, Phoenix School’s Sixth Form unveiled their bright and colourful garden to the public, showcasing a wide range of plants and vegetables – the majority of which they’d planted and grown on the community farm.
John D’Souza, Mitie’s Senior Partnering Manager on the Hammersmith & Fulham contract, said:
