MITIE has won a £4.5m design & build contract with leading insurer Friends Life. The contract is a 32 week, design & build contract for Friends Life Company Ltd managed by Axa Real Estate. 

MITIE will refurbish the 50,000 sq ft and 35,000 sq ft Maidenhead buildings, ensuring that they are an attractive letting proposition in the current market. 

The fully refurbished building will feature new floors and ceilings, with impressive reception areas with stone desks and walls. The work comprises a shell and core strip out followed by a refit to CAT A. 

The project includes the removal of walkways connecting three buildings and restoration of cladding to make them stand alone. The exterior will be updated with new entrance glazing and canopies, as well as remedial works to external cladding and landscaping. 

MITIE will also install a new efficient main plant ensuring more cost effective heating and ventilation. The building is targeted to achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’.
