MiHomecare care support worker, Ron Elliott, is celebrating banking just under £8 million in the National Lottery.

The 67 year old grandfather of two from Sutton has been playing the lottery since the very first draw in 1994, and buys his ticket every Saturday morning before starting his shift at a local housing scheme which provides extra care to the elderly.

Despite finding out about his winnings on Saturday evening, Ron, who has worked for MiHomecare for the past two years, turned up to work at 6am on Sunday morning to ensure the elderly people he looks after on a day to day basis received the care that they need.

When asked why he was so motivated to come into work after finding out about his millions, Ron said:

“The people I care for rely on me, and it was really important that I didn’t let anybody down. I really enjoy my job, and though it sometimes has its challenges, I find it hugely rewarding.”

Ron plans to carry on working in the job he loves. He will however be treating himself to further breaks in Indonesia, a regular holiday favourite of his, and he has already paid off his son’s mortgage.

Ron said, “I don’t have to worry anymore about what to do as I have money in the bank. I can treat colleagues at work, and would also like to see if we can give the residents some sort of party leading up to Christmas.”
