The IFSECand FIREXAwards, in association with the BSIA, took place on Monday 13 May at the Hilton Metropole Birmingham, and we are proud to announce that the Mitie team at Gunwharf Quays scooped the award for ‘Best policing partnership of the year’.

The award was received by two members of the security team, Lorrae Rowan and Andy Prowting, and by our client Sean Sweeney of Land Securities. The award was in recognition, of their hard work and collaboration with the Hampshire Police to reduce anti-social behaviour and decrease crime at the shopping centre. In the last 12 months crime fell by an impressive 30%; with sales increasing by 7.5% compared to the same period last year.

The IFSEC award recognised the partnership between a security team and the local police; the trust, communication and confidence in each other’s abilities proved an integral part in Gunwharf Quays receiving this award.

James Kelly, Chief Executive of the BSIA, comments: “These awards bring the UK’s private security industry together for a very special celebration of achievement. The security industry prides itself on innovation and this year's IFSEC and FIREX Awards highlight just how committed the industry is to quality service delivery and technological development.

"All of this year’s winners and finalists are to be congratulated on their achievements and should be justly proud of the contribution that they are making to our industry."
