Connected thinking at Virgin Media

MITIE has been awarded the national workplace catering account for Virgin Media, the new face of digital communications in the UK, as a result of the merger of the established Telewest and NTL companies in conjunction with the Virgin brand. 

This new account for MITIE involves the provision of catering for 12,000 Virgin Media associates across 16 locations in the UK operating staff restaurants, cafes and deli offers as well as delivering hospitality and events. 

Key to the successful mobilisation of this account has been the communication and delivery of the Virgin Media ethos and its brand integrity to all the catering teams; and the development of a Virgin Media food offer to bring something fresh and different to the audience, with entrée menu choices including local specialities and global flavours brought to life in bowl food options. 

The MITIE marketing campaign produced for the launch ensured that each Virgin Media associate received a desk drop pack offering details of the new services with loyalty incentives and healthy eating discounts. As a result, cash sales have increased since the start of the contract by 6%, and in turn MITIE is now feeding 12% more of the Virgin Media associates.
