New managing director appointed to drive fresh business ethos

The impact of agile working and new technology on office workers has been so dramatic that Mitie, the FTSE 250 outsourcer, has rebranded its business services division, it was announced today.

The new name – Total Document Management (TDM) – reflects the business’ greater focus on integrating separate platforms and off-site printing through technology.

The flexible nature of modern working and the high cost of prime real estate mean clients are increasingly interested in efficient, flexible document management services that save on space and cost.

TDM delivers full document services including mailroom management, creative services, digital print, scanning, procurement, secure shredding and document and data storage.

The business has 900 staff and almost 100 clients across the FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies as well as legal and professional services firms. It is the leading provider of document management services to the UK’s top legal firms.

This summer it will open a new state of the art off-site printing and scanning facility in Birmingham to serve clients outside of London and enjoy the benefits of a central location for nationwide delivery

TDM has appointed James Gilding as the new managing director to implement this fresh business ethos and grow the business.

James joined Mitie ten years ago and his most recent role has been as commercial director in the group’s total security management business. He replaces Lorraine Barnet who will take up a new role within Mitie.

James Gilding, managing director for Mitie’s document management business, said:

“The new name reflects the way we are changing the industry by integrating separate platforms through technology. It really isn’t a case of ‘business as usual’ – we’re taking a fresh approach here that better reflects new working patterns and technology.

“My focus will be on developing new solutions within our offering for clients across all sectors. I’m really excited to be embarking on this new role and I look forward to growing the business with my team.”
