BITC reward Mitie ‘Game Changer’

Stephen Barthorpe, sustainable business manager for Mitie, has been recognised by BITC for his commitment to corporate responsibility.

Mitie, the FTSE 250 strategic outsourcing and energy services company, has won the Business in the Community (BITC) award for Responsible Business Game Changer.

Stephen Barthorpe, sustainable business manager for Mitie, has been recognised by BITC for his commitment to corporate responsibility.

The award recognises the crucial role that individuals have played in integrating responsible business policy and practice within their organisations.

Now in its 30th year campaigning on responsible business issues, BITC has launched a one-off Game Changers accolade.

Stephen was congratulated for continually pushing boundaries within Mitie to help make a significant difference to business behaviour.

Stephen is also a strong advocate for BITC, and regularly speaks at training sessions and events to share CR best practice with peers from across sectors and industries.

The Game Changers, who are drawn from a variety of organisations in the public and private sectors, were announced at the BITC AGM on the evening of 4 December 2012 in London.

Stephen Howard, Chief Executive of BITC, said: “We are delighted to be able to recognise some of the brightest stars in corporate responsibility through our Game Changers award.

“Without the energy and passion of Game Changers like Stephen I doubt very much if the UK responsible business movement would be quite so mature. They truly deserve this recognition which I hope will act as an inspiration to others.”
