Interserve to further extend service contract with Magnox

Interserve, the international support services and construction group, following a two year extension to the original term, has won a further one year account extension with Magnox – the company responsible for twelve nuclear sites and one hydroelectric plant in the UK.

Interserve has worked with Magnox since 2013, and provides a comprehensive range of services across 12 sites. Key elements of the account include electrical, building and fabric maintenance, specialist mechanical services, grounds, vehicle and equipment maintenance, cleaning and catering. A strong focus of the extended agreement will be on identifying and delivering efficiencies, following significant savings made to date.

Guy Bruce, managing director – infrastructure and industrial, at Interserve said:

“We have a strong nuclear heritage, having worked in the sector for more than 65 years. Given our strong partnership with Magnox, we are extremely well placed to continue to drive the improvements in service performance the company needs while also cutting expenditure.”

Paul Grant, supply chain manager at Magnox said:

“Working collaboratively with the team at Interserve, we are confident we can continue to operate in the most cost efficient and effective way possible to meet the changing operational requirements of our sites across the UK.”

Interserve has also completed a number of building and infrastructure projects for Magnox at sites including Hinkley Point A, Berkeley and Bradwell over the last 25 years.

Under contract to the site owner - the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority - Magnox is responsible for the decommissioning of Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Harwell, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Oldbury Techincal Centre, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Winfrith, defuelling at Wylfa and electricity generation at Maentwrog.
