Interserve is providing a range of critical support services at the NHS Nightingale Hospital North West after the facility re-opened its doors to admit patients. The hospital, based at the Manchester Central Convention Complex (formerly known as G-MEX), is the first of the Nightingale hospitals to reopen to help take pressure off local hospitals. The NHS announced last Wednesday (28.10.2020) that it is now admitting patients who do not have COVID-19 but require further support before they are able to go home, such as therapy and social care assessments.
Interserve’s Communities and International business unit has 120 colleagues employed at the NHS Nightingale Hospital North West (NHNW). They are delivering services including: catering, cleaning, maintenance, portering, concierge and waste management services.
Interserve played an integral role both in supporting the initial launch of the hospital and in its remobilisation, which included maintaining the facility while it was on standby to ensure it could be re-opened at short notice.
Interserve has built a fully functional kitchen and bedroom at the hospital so that patients can ensure they are ready for discharge by practicing caring for themselves in a supervised environment. The company has also constructed a rehabilitation gymnasium including stairs and parallel bars along with a TV room all set out with appropriate socially distancing measures in mind.
Martin Burholt, Managing Director for Interserve’s UK Communities and International FM business unit, said: “We are proud of the award-winning work we are delivering to support the NHS and the North West community with this vital healthcare service. “Our facilities management teams continue to provide essential cleaning, maintenance, security and catering services to frontline operations as part of the UK’s response to COVID-19.”
Interserve last month won a prestigious IWFM Award for the work delivered to mobilise the original contract
