Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has been awarded a two-year account extension with the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
Interserve has worked with the Trust since 2012 and will continue to provide catering, logistics, cleaning and portering services with a help-desk solution that will help ensure quality is delivered across all service lines. These services will be delivered at the 500-bed University Hospital Lewisham and five community health centres, which provide community services such as district nurses, midwives and dental services, across the two London boroughs.
As part of Interserve’s commitment to improving patient care at the University Hospital Lewisham, the company will provide tablet computers on every ward to support an efficient and customer friendly food ordering experience for patients. Interserve is also working towards achieving the Bronze Food for Life Award to support the Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) initiative, which was launched by NHS England in April 2016 and promotes healthy eating within the NHS. The award demonstrates Interserve’s commitment to creating and maintaining a positive and sustainable food environment.
Interserve will also invest to improve infection control measures on wards and plans to introduce new scheduling and audit tools to better manage information and reporting around cleaning.
Martin Burholt, managing director - communities at Interserve said:
“Our work with the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust has enabled us to develop a strong understanding of its particular needs. Our commitment to meeting the NHS’ high standards has seen us invest in the latest equipment so that we can continue to deliver clean and safe environments for all patients and staff. ”
“We pride ourselves on our understanding of the NHS and we are looking forward to continuing to grow and develop our partnership, working with the Trust to improve process efficiency, introduce technology and improve service delivery.”
A spokesperson at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust said:
“The cleanliness of our hospitals and health centres is central to patient wellbeing and recovery. Interserve has ensured that our patients receive the highest standard of care that we demand. The team has demonstrated that they can evolve with the changing requirements at the University Hospital Lewisham and can consistently deliver, and we look forward to continuing our partnership.”
Interserve is one of the largest managers of healthcare facilities in the UK and operates in all healthcare environments. They design and construct healthcare buildings across the UK with over 4,000 team members delivering non-clinical support services nationwide on a daily basis. This includes everything from maintenance, security, catering, portering and car parking to providing patient centred care to patients with complex care needs; the majority of which are delivered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
