Interserve scoops top awards at leading industry event

Interserve has secured two awards at the 2016 PFM Awards for its partnership with the BBC, winning in both the ‘Partners in Corporate - public sector’ and the ‘Partnership Team Member’ categories. Held at The Brewery in east London, the annual awards ceremony is run by leading industry title Premises & Facilities Management. The prestigious ‘Partners in Corporate – public sector’ award was given to Interserve for its work with the BBC which sees the company run the organisation’s entire facilities management operation. Interserve was commended for its ‘one team’ approach, uniting all Interserve and BBC employees under the BBC Workplace model.

Interserve employee Ashley Gregg took home the ‘Partnership Team Member’ award for his role as workplace support coordinator for the BBC’s digital team at Media City. Having started working at the BBC in 2011 as a shift cleaner, Ashley demonstrated exceptional drive by shadowing the workplace support team outside his full-time work hours until he had gained the experience needed to hold the position. Since his appointment in the team, he has outshone his predecessors by immersing himself in the digital department’s world.

Paul Cooper, account director - BBC at Interserve, commented: “We are honoured to have been awarded not one but two accolades at this year’s PFM Awards. They are testament to our hard work in supporting the BBC across a period of major change to create a workplace that promotes creativity and productivity. With the entire Interserve team known as BBC Workplace employees, we have integrated ourselves into the organisation’s culture and values – no mean feat for such a large and complex operation.”

Alan Bainbridge, property director at the BBC, said: “Interserve took on the account for our entire facilities management operation in 2013 from three separate providers. Since then, it has reduced our support services spend by 20 per cent but the importance goes far beyond financial benefit. Our relationship with Interserve is built on a truly collaborative spirit that embraces and understands both our needs and our values. The team are at the heart of our success and we look forward to continuing our partnership.”
