Operations Manager Gary Jones is leading a team of 48 colleagues providing facilities management services to the London Ambulance Service (LAS) at the London Nightingale Hospital.
The team operates a 24/7 service and makes sure that the capital’s ambulances are in the best possible condition to support London’s response to COVID-19. They are based at London’s Nightingale Hospital, at the ExCel Centre.
Interserve has run the facilities management contract to the LAS for several years, which includes Make Ready teams working from hubs across the city which clean ambulances and makes sure they are properly stocked with 1,400 items to enable paramedics and NHS colleagues to do their jobs.
Gary said: “We have taken the service we ordinarily deliver from hubs across the capital to LAS and we are doing that on site at the London Nightingale Hospital for ambulances that are carrying patients with COVID-19 from Intensive Care Units across the city.
“Each vehicle is surgically cleaned at our specialist hub. Our deep clean contamination service ensures that the ambulances can get back out on the road as safely, efficiently and effectively as possible.
“I am proud of the incredible work our teams are carrying out in challenging circumstances.”
Gary joined Interserve in 2006 and has managed numerous contracts for the company, including Network Rail, a social housing contract with East Thames Group and London Underground. He took on the six-month contract after one of his contracts reached its natural conclusion and he was offered the opportunity to switch roles by the company’s Redeployment Team.
He said: “Our LAS facilities management operation is a high-quality team and it’s great to be part of it. We enjoy a very strong relationship with the LAS, NHS and other partner organisations involved in the response to COVID-19.”
Interserve provides services to 11 NHS hospitals, six healthcare facilities, the LAS and the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service. Services the company delivers range from security through to cleaning, catering, maintenance and portering duties.
