Interserve recognised at the 2016 RoSPA Awards

Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has scooped 15 awards in the 60th year of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards, taking the company’s total RoSPA honours over the last decade to more than 230.

Interserve’s support services business won a range of honours, including a Guardian Angel Award (established in 2014 to recognise and celebrate the work of individuals who have gone ‘above and beyond’ to improve the safety of others), three President’s Award (presented for receiving 10 - 14 consecutive Gold awards), two Gold Medals (for receiving up to nine consecutive Gold awards) and seven Gold awards.

Interserve’s construction business was awarded RoSPA’s prestigious Order of Distinction, which is presented to companies that have received 15 or more consecutive Gold Awards for their health and safety performance. The division has now won 16 consecutive Gold Awards. Interserve’s engineering services business was also recognised with a President’s Award for the 15th consecutive year of achieving a Gold Award.

These awards are the highest accolade that a company can achieve in recognition of its approach to health and safety, and were presented earlier this month at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel.

The awards were received by a variety of people who have gone above and beyond, and accounts that Interserve supports: Guardian Angel Award:

Adrian Ringrose, Interserve’s Chief Executive said:

“Health and safety is hugely important to Interserve and we’re extremely proud that our continued commitment and dedication to health and safety, and providing safe environments for our colleagues, customers and visitors has been recognised at the RoSPA Awards. To receive more than 230 RoSPA awards in the last decade is a real testament to the commitment of our teams who ensure a safe environment for everybody, every day.

There will always be more to do, but we continue to make good progress in our overall safety record and last year we achieved our long-term goal of halving the accident incidence rate, from 2010, four years ahead of schedule.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said:

“To win an award at such a highly-regarded event as the RoSPA Awards is a great achievement for our winners. It recognises their commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record and raises the bar for other organisations to aspire to. We offer them our congratulations.

“This year was doubly special for our winners as their achievements were recognised as the RoSPA Awards celebrated its diamond anniversary, which is a ringing endorsement of the thousands of businesses and organisations that have committed to continuous improvement in accident and ill-health prevention.”

The RoSPA Awards is celebrating 60 years of presenting highly-regarded and sought after accolades to businesses and organisations which have shown commitment to accident and ill-health prevention. Through the scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
