Interserve Healthcare celebrates National Carers’ Week

Interserve is proud to support National Carers’ Week, which highlights the incredible work undertaken by unpaid carers across the UK.

National Carers Week is backed by six national charities and this year starts on June 8th.

To recognise the week, Interserve Healthcare is donating £20,000 to the Care Workers Charity, which is committed to supporting the 2,000,000 people who work in the care sector.

IHC provides complex and critical care to patients who have a wide-range of medical conditions. Services include supporting 350 patients who require complex care to live in the community. These are mostly clients with long-term chronic conditions who would require hospital care if not being provided at home.

Ian Mulholland is Managing Director of Interserve’s Citizens Services Business Unit which includes IHC. The healthcare business has a team of 1,400 colleagues who operate from 10 branch offices across England and Wales.

Mr Mulholland said: “We acknowledge the importance of National Carers’ Week because it gives us the opportunity to highlight the inspiring work undertaken by volunteer carers across the UK.

“The role of carers – both paid and unpaid - has been put into sharp relief during COVID-19 and we are hugely proud of the efforts of our colleagues during these challenging times.

“We are supporting the Care Workers Charity because we appreciate the wonderful work the organisation carries out supporting carers, many of whom have faced added hardship during COVID-19 due to the need to isolate, potentially lose earnings and being exposed to increased risk.”

IHC has donated the money to the Care Workers Charity’s coronavirus care workers emergency fund. The fund provides emergency financial aid to care workers who are self-isolating.
