Interserve Group Limited, the international support services, construction and equipment services group, supports Armed Forces Day 2019 and the opportunity it gives to recognise and celebrate our service personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets and their families and friends for everything they contribute to our country.
Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the last Saturday of June every year. The event is promoted by the British Armed Forces as a fitting way to show appreciation for the troops and their families.
As proud signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant, Interserve is also supporting Armed Forces Day through Landmarc, one of the Company’s joint ventures that plays a vital role in maintaining the pre-operational training facilities for Defence Infrastructure Organisation’s (DIO) training estate. Landmarc is a Gold Sponsor of the national event to commemorate Armed Forces Day in Salisbury on Saturday 29th June.
Interserve has been a partner of the British Armed Forces for over 25 years and is uniquely equipped to meet the varied and changing needs of the Forces. As testament to this, it was delighted to announce earlier this month it had been selected again by the DIO. In its £500m contract, Interserve continues as the infrastructure support provider for the UK Armed Forces’ four strategic international bases in the Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Cyprus and Ascension Island.
Alongside its iconic project with the DIO, Interserve is also a partner to HMS Drake, Devonport, the largest naval base in Western Europe. It also played a key role in the first ship-to-shore fuel transfer on Ascension Island in 2012, and built and now maintains the 30-hectare Wellbeck Defence Sixth Form College supporting officers joining the Defence Forces and MoD Civil Service.
Interserve employs more than 2,500 people to deliver facilities management and support services to more than 35 defence sites across the UK. It also employs 62 apprentices across its Defence contracts ensuring its team is always upskilled to support modern military operations.
Debbie White, Interserve’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “Interserve is uniquely equipped to meet the varied and changing facilities management requirements of the UK Armed Forces across the Defence estate. The ex-military personnel and serving Reservists we employ perfectly illustrate the diversity of skills and expertise we bring to our customers. This, in turn, supports our customers to achieve their strategic goals.
“We are proud to be a major provider of support services to the UK Armed Forces, supporting their end-users – the soldiers, sailors and airmen – to continue serving our country.”
Interserve encourages others to join it in observing this important national event, and in thanking the many people who make the Armed Forces the bedrock of British society that it is today.
