  • Recognised as a leader in increasing awareness of disability-related matters across the business

Mitie has been recognised in Vercida’s top ten Disability Employers of 2017 shortlist, achieving fourth place.

Vercida, which stands for Values, Equality, Respect, Culture, Inclusion, Diversity and Accessibility, helps employers looking to promote a positive and diverse working environment, and people looking for jobs in an equal opportunities workplace.

The research conducted by Vercida includes the analysis of events, articles, news and rankings on credible disability sources such as Disability Confident and Disability Forum. The top ten recognises organisations leading the field in offering inclusive initiatives for people with disabilities and highlighting a best in class approach to attracting diverse, talented individuals.

Mitie believes its approach to diversity and inclusion sets it apart from its competitors. It has a number of established networks specifically designed to promote equal opportunities for gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity and disability.

Mitie set up the ‘Enable’ network to increase the awareness and understanding of disability in the workplace. Dedicated to communication, training and research, the network also provides advice and support to both employees and line managers.

Mark McCafferty, Chair of Mitie’s Enable network, said:

“At Mitie, diversity is an important part of our DNA and we are delighted to be recognised as a top ten disability employer. We are actively committed to promoting equality both within our own business and across the FM industry. Our internal network, Enable, is about helping every individual be the best they can be and it plays an important role in building a culture we can all be proud of.”
