Mitie Property Services launches a ‘Trailblazing’ upskilling programme

Mitie’s property management business has partnered with construction training experts Geason Training to deliver an NVQ Level 2 Trailblazer Apprenticeship in Property Maintenance.

Over the course of the first half of 2016, Mitie asked its people, by way of survey, what improvements they would like to see in the workplace. Amongst other ideas, one of the most common responses was that our operative and office-based populations alike would enjoy more training opportunities.

In response to this request, Mitie Property Services, Mitie’s property management business, has partnered with construction training experts Geason Training to deliver an NVQ Level 2 Trailblazer Apprenticeship in Property Maintenance to all interested operatives.

The twelve month trailblazer programme has seen 705 operatives taking up the training to date. One of the key benefits of the Geason Training programme is that Mitie can start training employees on a flexible basis and on Mitie chosen sites, which is both convenient and efficient.

Excellent client and customer satisfaction is a key priority when carrying out property services. Through this partnership and upskilling programme, Mitie is aiming to enhance the customer journey through delivering a faultless, all-encompassing service.

The programme will enable Mitie's operatives to deal with issues that would previously have fallen out of scope. “First Time Fix” is a key performance indicator within the industry and the title embodies exactly what the programme aims to achieve: providing people with the skills to deal with issues at first point of contact.

The programme will also deliver added environmental benefits as it will enable the operatives to deal with issues at hand without repeat visits, thus resulting in reduced fuel consumption and carbon footprint.

Craig Boath, Director of Property Services, said:
“At Mitie we take pride in our people and the service they deliver. Not only will the trailblazer programme with Geason Training provide our people with the opportunity to be upskilled, but it will also improve the service that they deliver to our clients and customers on a daily basis.”
