Mitie, the FTSE 250 strategic outsourcing company, has been awarded the Partnership Team Member Award at this year’s prestigious PFM Awards.

The PFM Awards is seen as a highlight on the FM calendar. It recognises best practice from service providers in facilities management and support services when it comes to partnering with their clients. It also acknowledges the skills and enterprise of people engaged in this sector.

The awards ceremony is attended by some of the smartest minds in the sector, including facilities managers, service providers and property professionals from across both public and private sectors.

Nicola Foster, who works as a full time cleaner for Mitie’s Integrated Facilities Management business at the John Smeaton Academy in Leeds, was recognised for her invaluable contribution to a student’s development. Nicola took it upon herself to get involved with the Academy’s paired reading programme, which was set up to increase the reading age and ability of students through one-to-one tuition with the school’s teaching team.

Sarah Wane, who is responsible for leading the project at John Smeaton Academy is delighted with the support Nicola has shown, and commented:

“The progress that the pupil has made is one of the highest in his year group, having increased his reading age from 9 years and 5 months to 16 years and 6 months. We are very proud to have such a committed member of the Mitie team on the scheme.”

Phil Holland, managing director of Mitie’s Integrated Facilities Management business also commented:

“I am so thrilled that Nicola has been recognised for this award. She has not only made a momentous impact on this young adult’s life, she has also gone to great lengths to help change the perception of the FM industry as a whole.

“Through going above and beyond what is expected of her, she continues to strengthen our relationship with the client, encompassing the Leeds Combined Secondary School Project’s (CSSP) ethos of working in partnership to achieve the ultimate goal of educational development and excellence.”
