Mitie picks up award for ‘Best Supplier Relationship Management'

Mitie’s technical facilities management business has been crowned winner at the 2016 CIPS annual Supply Management Awards

Mitie’s technical facilities management (FM) business has been crowned winner at the 2016 Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply’s (CIPS) annual Supply Management Awards.

Together with recruitment process outsourcing specialists Omni RMS, Mitie picked up the award for Best Supplier Relationship Management.

The awards celebrate excellence in procurement and supply management, and the Best Supplier Relationship award recognises a purchaser and supplier whose effective working relationship has helped them to achieve tangible benefits to both parties.

Mitie and Omni received the award for their genuine strategic and collaborative partnership; one that delivers innovation, quality and continuous improvement.

Since the beginning of their partnership in July 2012, Omni has helped Mitie save over £2.5m in recruitment costs as well as securing over 2,600 permanent placements, increasing the talent pool across the business.

Amongst a whole range of initiatives that have been jointly developed over the last four years, the introduction of a mutual investment fund has significantly benefitted both organisations, and this is one of the key elements of the partnership which really stood out for the judges.

In addition to the commercial benefits, the partnership has also seen the companies collaborate to support charities such as St. Christopher’s Fellowship, who are focused on improving the lives of disadvantaged young people in and around London.

Commenting on the award win, Mike Faria, Head of Strategic Resourcing at Mitie said: “Mitie is delighted that our innovative and collaborative relationship with Omni RMS was recognised by the supply management awards panel, especially considering the high calibre of the other finalists in this category.

“Winning this award demonstrates that Mitie’s cross functional approach to supplier management in strategic situations is able to deliver best in class procurement principles and further highlights the benefits of fully integrating with innovative and forward thinking strategic partners in order to jointly achieve service excellence.”

Omni Managing Director, Martin Wainman added: “We’re so thrilled that our relationship with Mitie has been recognised in this way, especially in such a strong category. The strength of our relationship with Mitie not only provides a great foundation for future growth and development, but speaks volumes for the culture and values of both our organisations as well as the way we do business. Great people working together really can do great things!"

The winners were presented with the award during the annual CIPS Dinner held on 14 September at the Grosvenor House Hotel, which brought together over 1,000 senior procurement professionals.
