Mitie film wins at the Royal Television Society West of England Awards 2016

A film commissioned by Mitie has won best short film at the Royal Television Society West of England Awards 2016.

A film commissioned by Mitie has won best short film at the Royal Television Society West of England Awards 2016.

The awards, held last week in Bristol, honour excellence across all genres of television programming and recognise exceptional actors, presenters, writers and production teams as well as the programmes themselves.
Mitie’s production partner, JS Productions, was crowned winner in the Best Short Film category for ‘Penalty’ – the third in a trilogy of hard-hitting films produced as part of Mitie’s long-running and successful health and safety engagement campaign, ‘Work Safe Home Safe!’

Work Safe Home Safe! is an internal campaign devised to reinforce employee engagement and help Mitie employees think about safe behaviours both in and out of work. The videos, which are themed ‘One lapse can last a lifetime’, are designed to initiate discussion on key issues such as safe driving, working at height, and slips and trips, and demonstrate how one lapse in judgement can have serious effects.

Richard White, Group Enterprise Risk Director at Mitie said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have our hard work in this critical area recognised in such a way and we will continue our efforts to ensure our Work Safe Home Safe! programme is understood by every Mitie person.”

JS Productions accepted the award on Sunday 6 March with the judges recognising “this character-driven film and the important message that it had to tell.” It was the only corporate film to be nominated in any category, holding its own against flagship productions such as Wolf Hall and Poldark. The win is a testament to the importance that Mitie places on health and safety and its dedication to quality and innovation in this area.

James Sykes, Managing Director at JS Productions commented: “What a privilege it is to work with Mitie. I’m so pleased that the team, Mitie and the film have been recognised, it’s a fantastic achievement!”
