Mitie, the FTSE250 strategic outsourcing company, is pleased to announce that it has successfully completed the Business in the Community Gender and Race Benchmark 2014, earning two gold category statuses and one silver across three of its businesses.

Mitie was one of only two organisations, out of 114 benchmarked, to submit separate submissions for individual businesses.

The judges were impressed by Mitie’s Diversity Committee and, in particular, the way it has worked to embed diversity across the business and played an active role on group wide boards and influenced wider HR policy.

The diversity benchmark, run by Business in the Community (BITC), helps organisations identify strengths and weaknesses by comparing participants to sector peers and by assessment against BITC’s diversity and inclusion framework. The benchmark assesses recruitment, retention, progression, customers and clients, policy, practice, governance and strategic approach to gender and race diversity.

This latest success follows on from Mitie being recognised as a Times Top 50 Employer for Women earlier in the year.

Karen Govier, Mitie’s Diversity and Inclusion Manager, commented:
'We are passionate about diversity at Mitie, and it forms a key part our people strategy. We are committed to recruiting and developing the best talent, which means hiring people from a variety of backgrounds, genders and ethnicities. We are delighted with these results.'
