Mitie, the facilities management company, has been awarded a nine-year expanded contract with Thales – a global technology supplier for the aerospace, defence, ground transportation, and security and space industries.

This follows an initial five-year (£40m) contract awarded in January 2016, to deliver integrated facilities management services across Thales Group’s UK portfolio. Over the course of the year, Mitie has worked closely with Thales to support their UK real-estate strategy, introducing a number of operational efficiencies and technological innovations to help drive value and develop key sites.

Subsequently, Mitie has secured additional services, including energy management and catering (Gather & Gather), over an extended contract term worth £130m. This brings the total contract term to ten years.

Phil Holland, Managing Director of Mitie’s Engineering and Integrated FM business, said:

“I am proud that our relationship with Thales UK has flourished in a relatively short space of time, leaping to a nine-year term. This is a testament to the success of the steps we have taken to ingrain our services with Thales’s culture and needs. With the introduction of Gather & Gather to the contract, a major focus for the coming year is to evolve the role of food and nutrition in the workplace, helping to support employee well-being and drive engagement.”

Rob Lucas, Director of Real Estate at Thales, commented:

“Our FM strategy is to optimise our partnership with Mitie to enable us to drive value into our FM supply chain, thus delivering a competitive advantage for our business. We believe that Mitie has the best in class tools, processes and, with the Gather & Gather offering, a market leading catering solution that will allow us to effectively deliver our strategy. We are delighted to expand our relationship with Mitie and look forward to enhancing our collaborative approach over the coming years.”
