Mitie, the facilities management company, has scored an average PLACE (Patient Led Assessments of the Care Environment) score of over 95% for hospital cleanliness.

The company carries out hotel services, including cleaning and patient catering, at 16 hospitals across the UK.

PLACE scores assess hospital trusts across the country every year. The surveys look at every aspect of the hospital environment, from the building’s care and maintenance, to cleaning and hygiene and patient catering.

Three hospitals scored 100% for cleanliness with two Cornish hospitals, St. Michaels and West Cornwall hospital, scoring particularly high at 99.38% and 98.62% respectively.

This represents an improvement from last year in many areas and at many sites.

Lindsey Coles, Director of Healthcare of Mitie’s cleaning business, Environmental+, said:
“These are excellent results for our healthcare business and in many cases show a huge improvement from last year.

“I’d like to thank all our people working on site for their continued hard work and commitment, helping us to achieve such good results.”
